0 comments The Spain-Florida Foundation 500 Years to sponsor reception for a public conference at the University of Miami

The Spain-Florida Foundation will sponsor the reception for a conference Friday 8th, 2012 at 8PM at the University of Miami. The public conference titled, “Florida at the Crossroads: Five Hundred Years of Encounters, Conflicts, and Exchanges” hosted by the Center of Humanities, a department of the University of Miami, will begin February 9th until the 11th, 2012. Admission is free of charge.

This public conference will kick-off the year’s commemoration of the five hundredth anniversary of the landing of Juan Ponce de Leon on Florida shores.

The educational conference will boast of academic keynote speakers from different Universities in Florida such as Florida Atlantic University, Florida State University, a roundtable hosted by the Coral Gables Museum, and a walk-in gallery.

The conference is a great opportunity for all the institutions involved to promote the history of Florida and the relations between Spain and the United States.
